A lakeshore area physician who specialized in Internal Medicine for nearly 35 years, including almost 27 years in Manitowoc County, retired from his practice earlier this month.
Dr. Pradeep Giriyappa’s retirement became official on October 6th.
He tells Seehafer News that he started his employment with Holy Family Memorial at the former Woodland Clinic, once known as Internal Medicine Associates.
“When I started there weren’t that many affiliations,” he explained. “Even though Dr. Hofteizer and his group sold their practice to Holy Family and then they became Holy Family employees. And, I started after that.”
Prior to that time, Dr. Giriyappa worked for Affinity La Salle Clinic, now Ascension Health in Oshkosh for 4 years.
The well-respected internist said he was welcomed into the community to be a new physician and was very happy with that.
“I had a new family started and needed a place to get my roots in. I also had a special needs child and needed to have good healthcare for my child,” he revealed. “It was one of the drawing points for me for Holy Family because we were self-insured. But, ultimately the patients and the people in the community kept me here.”
As for hobbies and future endeavors, Giriyappa said he plans to “try to golf more and hope to be a better golfer. I’d like to play some tennis with friends, my friend and I have developed a food truck that we’re trying to market in the community. I may also want to get back and do some medical care.”
The medical internist was born in India but came to America when he was very young and lived in Pennsylvania for most of his formative years.
Dr. Giriyappa and his partner reside in north Two Rivers where he says “they love the location and their neighbors.”
He added they feel blessed to be near Lake Michigan.
