Runners from a number of local schools competed at the WIAA State Cross Country Meet in Wisconsin Rapids on Saturday.
In the Girls Division-3 race at the Ridges Golf Course, senior Libby Schmidt of Roncalli placed 20th in a time of 20:00.2. Valders junior Hannah Welch wound up 23rd at 20:05.6 seconds.
On the Boys side, senior Hunter Taddy from Reedsville finished 49th in a time of 17:34.
Leading the area contingent in Division-2 Boys was Two Rivers junior Eli Gallagher who was 15th overall with a clocking of 16:32.9, while Raiders classmate Carson Kadow placed 50th in 17:15.2.
Kiel runners were paced by senior Pierce Arenz in 43rd place at 17:08.9.
In D-2 Girls results, Kiel sophomore Addison Vogel posted a 22nd-place finish in 19:50.6 and Two Rivers junior Ashley Groothoff was 59th in 20:36.
In the Division-1 Girls race, the Manitowoc Lincoln freshmen duo of Natalie Portmann and Kendall Schmitz placed 65th and 87th respectively in 20:00.8 and 20:16.4.
And in the Large School Boys Run, Caleb Jatczak concluded his Ships running career in 110th place in a time of 17:13.7.
