Electric customers of Manitowoc Public Utilities are seeing an increase in their rates on bills printed in October.
MPU filed a rate hike application with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin last December and the request has now been approved for service rendered on or after September 1st.
According to the utility, the average residential electric customer using 600 kilowatts a month will pay approximately $3.75 more.
The primary reason for the increase request was high fuel and purchased power costs, coupled with inflationary operational and maintenance costs.
MPU points out their rates are “incredibly competitive, compared to municipal and privately-owned utilities in Wisconsin.”
