A 22-year-old man has been charged with resisting arrest after allegedly trying to run away from a police officer at the Kwik Trip on 8th Street.
Manitowoc Police say they were called to the gas station because the suspect took food without paying for it.
When the officer arrived and found the man by some wood, the officer allegedly saw him eating something and saw several food wrappers.
The man then apparently walked back inside when the officer parked and walked toward him.
A Kwik Trip employee pointed to where the man was in the store and when the suspect saw the officer, he took off.
The officer chased the man toward Chicago Street before he fell.
When police tried to lift the man off the ground, he allegedly started pushing back toward the arrested officer and tried to stop himself from getting into the back of a squad car.
The man was eventually put into the car and was taken to the Manitowoc County Jail.
