A Manitowoc Lincoln student-athlete is the first Ship in 30 years to commit to play baseball at a Division One College.
During a ceremony held in the High School Auditorium, junior Noah Wech signed his national letter of intent to play baseball for Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.
Manitowoc Lincoln High School Athletic Director Stan Diedrich tells Seehafer News, “Oklahoma State has won 25 conference championships and 25 conference tournament championships. The Cowboys have also earned 48 NCAA Tournament bids and played in 20 College World Series.”
Wech says not only does their college baseball program have a great track record, but his major of Agriculture Business and Farm Ranch Management was also a great fit for him.
“It’s pretty special,” he admitted. “I put a lot of hard work into it so you know finally seeing it all come together and being able to sign that paper felt amazing.”
He also talks about several differences between playing high school baseball and playing in college.
“The speed of the game is just crazy,” he explained. “You’re playing against mature men in college and in high school you are playing against kids who are just in love with the game and want to represent their high school. So, obviously, it’s a little bit more hardcore and cutthroat when you get to college, and I know that and I really want to be a part of a successful program.”
Noah will pitch and play in the infield for the Cowboys starting in 2025.
