A Thanksgiving dinner in Wisconsin will cost less than the national average. According to the Wisconsin Farm Bureau, it’s 1.36% less this year with the average in the Badger state costing about $58.
The national average is about $61.
The most expensive item is still the turkey which in Wisconsin costs about $26 while the national average is about $27.
Another expensive item you might not think about is pumpkin pie mix, which the national average is about $4.44, but in Wisconsin is about $4.35.
Wisconsin’s Thanksgiving Marketbasket survey is an informal, annual review of food price trends in relation to changing farm prices, weather, and wholesale and retail food marketing.
Wisconsin Farm Bureau members collected price samples of 15 Thanksgiving food items in November.
The farm bureau also says while turkey prices largely contribute to the change in price overall, produce items across the board saw marginal increases statewide.
Continued inflation paired with a summer-long drought are the biggest contributors to these increases.
