The Manitowoc United JV hockey team had a doubleheader at home over the weekend, and while they fought hard through both games, they lost both matchups.
In the Friday home opener for the squad, Captain Benson Dickrell notched his first goal of the season, but United fell 3-1 with an empty netter clinching the win for the visiting Marinette Thunder.
Then Saturday evening, De Pere invaded the Manitowoc County Ice Center, and the two teams remained deadlocked at zero entering the 3rd period.
Sam Hinz finally broke the seal thanks in part to a centering pass from Dickrell, but two minutes later, De Pere would score on a powerplay and would take the lead while also on the powerplay.
Manitowoc could not find the back of the net again and fell 2-1.
Goalie Dan Karlin had a phenomenal weekend, making several sprawling saves and came away with 45 saves over the two games.
United is off until December 8th, when they get another crack at Marinette at home.
