Tax bills for residents of Manitowoc are going to start showing up soon.
Mayor Justin Nickels said on the WCUB Breakfast Club that the latest they will be sent out is December 18th.
He says because every home was reevaluated this year, it will be hard to determine what each person will see on their bill.
“But one thing to note, more than likely everyone’s taxes will be going up no matter what your assessed value went up,” he expressed. “That’s really because the school referendum. If you recall back, they approved the school referendum back in April and that takes us back.”
Because of the referendum, Nickels says nearly everyone would see a tax increase anyway.
But how much your property value went up will determine how much your taxes will go up.
Earlier this year, Nickels told Seehafer News that there was a 30% increase in Manitowoc property values after they were assessed by a Menasha assessor group, Accurate.
