A report from the Wisconsin Policy Forum reveals that property taxes across the state are expected to rise by approximately 4.7 percent this year.
However, the impact will be mitigated by two state tax credits.
The new state budget allocates over $250 million to the school tax levy credit and increases the lottery tax credit by $16 million.
These credits will reduce the effective property tax increase from nearly 5 percent to a more manageable 2 or 3 percent for most individuals.
