Legislation aimed at ending human trafficking in Wisconsin is making its way through the legislature with bipartisan support.
The Human Trafficking Prevention Act, penned by Senator Andre Jacque of De Pere and Assemblyman Ty Bodden of Stockbridge, recently passed the Assembly Committee on Regulatory Licensing Reform on a unanimous 9-0 vote.
The measure targets the known connection between adult entertainment establishments and sex trafficking by prohibiting such establishments from being owned or operated by convicted human trafficking or sex offenders and by requiring adult entertainment establishments to furnish a list of their employees, operators, and owners to local law enforcement officials upon request.
The measure, formally known as Assembly Bill 60, will now go before the full Assembly and Senate before making its way to Governor Tony Evers’ desk for final approval.
