An Eastern Wisconsin State Senator got to be the keynote speaker for a local graduation ceremony.
Senator Andre Jacque said on Monday’s Be My Guest program that he got to speak to the graduation of the Criminal Justice Academy at Lakeshore Technical College in Cleveland last week.
Jacque says it was his first time being the keynote speaker for the academy and called it special.
He says he talked about how noble the students who are graduating are, especially with the job they want to do.
“Just the amount of courage and confidence it takes, especially given the extra scrutiny that society on the job they do now,” he explained. “But also, we have outstanding training at LTC, and I think it’s something that they will have to trust that training.”
He specifically mentioned State Trooper Trevor Casper, a Kiel native who was the youngest trooper killed in the line of duty in Fond du Lac trying to stop a robber.
Other things he mentioned to graduating cadets were bills he’s worked on down in Madison, specifically for helping police officers with PTSD who deal with unforgettable situations.
Jacque says the bills for law enforcement and full-time firefighters were enacted in the last session.
