Manitowoc Police Chief Nick Reimer is reminding people interested in the MPD Citizen Police Academy that the application deadline is coming soon.
People who want to participate must sign up by Tuesday, January 9th. Twelve people from the community will make it into the academy.
Reimer says the end goal is to educate the community.
The classes people take will be taught by the police department, which will be candid about their duties and experiences as law enforcement officers.
Topics covered in the academy include topics like police department operations, use of force, firearms, building searches, domestic violence, internet sex predators, drug awareness, human trafficking, and courtroom testimony.
