Several area fire and law enforcement departments responded to a house fire Saturday morning in The City of Kiel.
Kiel Fire Department Public Information Officer Kyle Preissner tells Seehafer News that fire personnel responded to a residence at 829 Cleveland Street just after 8 a.m. and, upon arrival, found heavy smoke and fire coming out of the front windows.
Hose lines were deployed immediately, and the blaze was extinguished within four minutes.
No one was hurt, thanks to the quick thinking of a neighbor who heard smoke detectors and assisted the lone unidentified occupant out of the structure.
The resident was evaluated by Kiel Fire Department Paramedics and released. Crews remained on the scene for two hours, and there is no damage estimate at this time.
The cause remains under investigation.
Assisting on scene were fire departments from Elkhart Lake, Glenbeulah, New Holstein and St. Anna, Kiel and New Holstein Police, Kiel Electric and Department of Public Works, The Manitowoc County Fire Investigation Unit, and The Red Cross.
