With the Christmas season ending, it’s time to take down the Christmas trees.
The Manitowoc County Recycling Center is partnering with the City of Manitowoc Parks and Forestry Division for the “Tree for a Tree” program.
Manitowoc County residents and businesses may receive a voucher for a free deciduous tree when they bring their real Christmas tree to the Basswood Compost Site located at 3000 Basswood Road.
To receive the voucher, participants must go to the Recycling Center Main Office before donating their tree.
The site is open from 7:00 to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and Saturdays from 8:00 to noon.
Remember to remove all ornaments, lights, and tinsel from the trees before dropping them off, and if your tree is taller than 6 feet, individuals are asked to cut them in half.
