The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) is spreading awareness to families and businesses this month.
The DHS is encouraging home and building owners to test their buildings for radon.
Radon exposure is the second leading cause of lung cancer overall and is the leading cause of lung cancer for non-smokers.
While you can’t see or smell radon, you can still protect yourself from it.
Residents can find reduced-cost test kits at Radon Information Centers (RIC) for about $20.
More information can be found by visiting LowRadon.org to find RICs in the area.
