Several watershed conservation grants have been awarded throughout the state in 2023.
The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) issued roughly $1 million in producer-led watershed protection packages to 47 groups.
The money supports preservation efforts by “encouraging innovation and farmer participation in on-the-ground efforts to improve Wisconsin’s soil health and water quality”.
Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers exclaimed excitement for the program saying, “Across the state, producer-led groups are doing tremendous work caring and advocating for our state’s land and water resources, and those efforts continue to grow year after year”.
In the area, grants were awarded to the Calumet County Ag Stewardship Alliance, Seven Rivers Soil Cooperative, and Sheboygan River Progressive Farmers.
