The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says the city of Manitowoc is eligible for funding to replace lead service lines.
The city applied for funding through the Safe Drinking Water Loan Program to improve the city’s public drinking water system through watermain replacement or building bigger storage facilities.
The DNR says no environmental analysis is required for the project, but there does need to be an environmental review before funding the project.
Residents are encouraged to submit comments about the project by Tuesday, January 23rd, regarding the decision and the potential environmental impacts of the project.
Comments can be sent to DNRCFELEnvironmentalReview@wisconsin.gov or to the following mailing address:

Depending on the comments, there could be an environmental analysis before the project gets started.
