The Manitowoc Ace Hardware has been busy with the winter weather.
Many people have been stopping by the hardware store, and Employee Ron Abney tells Seehafer News News, “We have been selling a lot of shovels, a lot of salt, some windshield brushes, and so forth.”
The first winter storm moved in Tuesday, and more snow is expected to fall over the weekend, with a possibility of a foot of snow coming down.
With the sale of salt being a common way to get rid of snow on driveways and sidewalks, your pet’s health is always a concern.
Abney says, “We do have some pet friendly ice melt. This actually does not have any salt in it.”
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is asking residents who use salt to use less.
A 12-ounce cup of salt is all that’s needed to clear a 20-foot driveway. And once it gets below 15 degrees, it’s recommended to use sand instead.
