Manitowoc Public Utilities customers might see a slight increase on their water bills.
The city’s utility company filed a water rate increase application with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin in the summer of 2022 and was approved to start in December 2023.
MPU says this increase isn’t substantial and should only be about a $3.19 increase for customers using about 4,000 gallons of water per month.
MPU hasn’t filed for a conventional rate increase since 2011, but over the past twelve years, inflation has risen, and costs have followed.
According to their water bill comparison, customers with MPU are still in the bottom 10% of utilities across the state and cost less than some other eastern Wisconsin cities.
