A 34-year-old man who had an active warrant out for his arrest after failing to show up for a sentencing hearing on a separate matter was taken into custody Thursday night after he was reported to be intoxicated and running through the halls and lobby of a local hotel.
Thomas J. Bellmer, who gave no address to the court, was also wanted by police for failure to appear for sentencing of 4th Degree Sexual Assault on January 11th.
He appeared in Manitowoc County Circuit Court on both cases Friday afternoon, with bail set at $5,000 cash for Failure to Appear and $750 recognizance on new charges that include Misdemeanor Bail Jumping, Disorderly Conduct, and Possession of THC, which he refused to sign.
Officers responded to The Quality Inn in Manitowoc around 7:30 p.m., and as they approached Bellmer’s room, they detected a scent of marijuana.
A search located a half-smoked joint and a white vacuum-sealed bag, and he was transported and booked into the County Jail.
The lone Condition of Bail is that Bellmer maintains “absolute sobriety,” with an initial appearance scheduled for February 8th at 10:30.
Meanwhile, Bellmer is scheduled to appear for sentencing on his sexual assault matter on February 15th at 9:30 a.m.
