The Manitowoc United hockey team hosted a weekend doubleheader at the Manitowoc County Ice Center.
In game one, which was played Saturday evening, Manitowoc peppered the Eagles’ goalie, Benjamin Schaumann, with 60 shots, but he played phenomenally, earning claps from the home bench on occasion.
Manitowoc would be able to find the back of the net twice, with Benson Dickrell and Ethan Christensen taking the shots, but with 30 seconds left, the Eagles would get a fast break and beat Manitowoc goalie Dan Karlin to secure the 3-2 win.
Sunday morning was a completely different story, as it was all Manitowoc from the opening drop.
The home squad would score halfway through the first, three times in the 2nd, and twice more in the 3rd to pick up a 6-1 win.
Landon Nienow and Miles De Kok each scored twice, while Aragon Jack and Reed Bartz tallied the other two markers.
Karlin ended the weekend with 32 saves, bringing his season save percentage up to 88%.
Up next for United is a road contest at the Oshkosh Community YMCA this Friday.
