A 37-year-old Manitowoc man is free on $500 cash bail after being accused of child abuse at his home.
Lawrence L. Lemsky is charged with Physical Abuse of a Child.
A middle school resource officer met with staff Wednesday morning after a teacher noticed that a student was behaving a bit out of sorts.
When asked if anything was bothering them, they showed the teacher an injury he sustained at home on Tuesday evening.
It was discovered that Lemsky had pinned the victim to the ground over an argument over what was being served for dinner.
Lemsky claimed that the child was yelling in his mother’s face, which is why he pulled the child back and held them to the ground while they calmed down.
The mother told police that Lemsky had been physical with the victim in the past, and he was taken into custody without further incident.
Conditions of bail are that Lemsky has “no contact” with the child or residence and no “unsupervised contact” with anyone under the age of 18.
His initial appearance is scheduled for January 29th at 1:30.
