Calls for Kiel’s Fire Department have reached record highs in some categories.
A Facebook post from the department last month shows Kiel Fire and Rescue responded to a record high of 783 calls for the service in the city of about 3,000 in 2023, which included 626 EMS calls and 157 fire calls.
In 2022, there were 716 calls, with 570 for EMS and 146 for fire.
The amount of Fire and EMS calls, which can be seen below, shows a slow increase over the past seven years.
The fire department thanked all its members for their time, commitment, and dedication while also thanking city governing bodies and residents of the coverage area for their support.
The fire department finished the post by saying they will continue to meet the needs of our growing community by providing exceptional fire/rescue and emergency medical services.
The trend already seems to be going up in 2024, with the fire department responding to 80 calls in January and sixteen just this past weekend.
