Bail is set at $1,000 cash for a 26-year-old Manitowoc man, whom police chased through several residential neighborhoods early Saturday morning.
Nicholas S. Gignac is charged with Fleeing or Eluding an Officer, Obstructing an Officer, and one count each of Felony and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
An Officer was on patrol and witnessed a vehicle running a red light at the intersection of South 21st and Washington Streets and conducting a traffic stop.
Gignac would not identify himself and appeared, according to the officer, to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
He suddenly sped off with his vehicle located parked in a driveway in the 1700 block of Michigan Avenue.
Gignac was allegedly seen in the basement of the residence opening a bag believed to have contained a controlled substance.
He was taken into custody upon exiting the home without further incident.
Conditions of bail are that Gignac not operate a motor vehicle and maintain “absolute sobriety.”
He remains in The County Jail, with his initial appearance scheduled for February 12th at 1:30.
