Legislation authored by an Eastern Wisconsin Congressman to name the Kiel Post Office after a fallen officer is moving to the US House.
Sixth District Congressman Glenn Grothman says designating the Fremont Street Post Office as the “Trooper Trevor J. Casper Post Office” passed the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability and now needs votes in the House.
Grothman led Wisconsin’s Congressional delegation on the bill and has support from every Wisconsin congressman in Washington.
Casper, a Kiel native, became the youngest Wisconsin State Trooper to die in the line of duty in the state after he was shot and killed trying to stop a bank robbery in Fond du Lac.
He was a staple at Kiel High School through different sports and attended Lakeshore Technical College to get a Criminal Justice degree in 2014.
Grothman says, “Trooper Casper’s sacrifice should remind us of all of the tremendous debt of gratitude we owe to our law enforcement officers. Let us remember Trooper Casper’s heroism and his dedication to duty and let us honor his memory by supporting those who continue to serve and protect our great state of Wisconsin.”
