Today is the first day of the 2024 election cycle, with some elections happening in Manitowoc and Sheboygan Counties.
The big election around Manitowoc and surrounding areas is the Manitowoc Public School Board.
The whole city of Manitowoc, City of Two Rivers Wards 7 and 8, Town of Two Rivers Wards 1 and 3, Town of Newton Wards 1 and 3, Town of Manitowoc Rapids Wards 2 and 4, Town of Kossuth Wards 2 and 3, and the town of Centerville will vote on which candidates will be on the board.
In the city of Two Rivers Wards 7 and 8, they will vote for a county board supervisor in the 25th district in a contest between Incumbent Bonnie Shimulunas and challengers Abdalla Ibrahim, Jason Ring, and Douglas Wolf.
There will also be an election for a seat on the Howards Grove School Board in the town of Meeme in Ward 2.
According to WHBL, in Sheboygan County, several townships, along with the village of Howards Grove and the city of Sheboygan, will have a limited number of contests.
Three people are running for a spot on the Sheboygan City Council in District 2, including Robert Filicky-Peneski, Markus Savaglio, and John Belanger.
Voters will vote for either Denny Runge, Jesse Roethel, or Zachary Rust in the 8th aldermanic district.
Townships in Sheboygan County will also vote for who they want on the Howards Grove School Board.
Polls open at 7:00 this morning and close at 8:00 this evening.
