After being missing for one week, Elijah Vue’s family is calling on the public to continue their efforts to help search for their missing child.
The Two River Police Department held a press conference yesterday evening to give an update about what’s happening with the missing 3-year-old, but still couldn’t disclose much detail about the case.
Two Rivers Police Chief Ben Meinnert says Elijah still hasn’t been found, but hundreds of resources have been used around the clock for the past week to bring Elijah home.
Meinnert also explained why the Amber Alert went out.
“This child was three years old and reported missing on a cold winter temperature day with only a blanket and possibly light clothing, and we knew at that time about three to four hours,” Meinnert said. “I defined that as endangered.
He exclaims how much frustration there has been, especially with all the resources used to search for Elijah without any results.
He also talked about how all the tips are being taken and all leads are being followed.
After Meinnert spoke, Elijah’s aunt and grandparents expressed that their hearts were heavy and wanted anyone to come forward with any information to bring him home.
Elijah’s grandmother emotionally said, “I want my grandson to be home with my family, so I want everybody to continue, don’t stop searching for my baby. Reach out, we want him to be safe.”
They also expressed their gratitude for everyone searching for Elijah and all the food and monetary donations people have given for the cause.
Meinnert didn’t speculate too much on details because he doesn’t want to hurt the search but what has been hurting the search is misinformation on social media, which Meinnert says doesn’t hurt the police investigation, but the people following it.
“I want them to know the facts,” he explained. “Our department takes pride in remaining transparent in Two Rivers. That’s why I’m putting out all the news releases, that’s why I’m having a news conference with you today is because I want the public to know the facts, just the facts, and be up to date with those facts so they can continue their own searches.”
The FBI has announced a reward of up to $15,000 with information surrounding Elijah’s disappearance or if information given helps solve what happened to him.
Again, anyone with information regarding Elijah’s disappearance is asked to call the state tips line at 844-267-6648 or by using the P3 Tips app.
