The Two Rivers boys track coach is hoping getting kids involved in his sport can help get them involved in other sports as well.
Due to the diverse nature of track and field and the many events it has to offer, students from all different athletic backgrounds are drawn to the sport.
Coach Scott Helling underlined his reasoning for pushing students to do more than just track.
“I really encourage them to get involved in as many sports as they can,” he told Seehafer News. “I always hope to have three sport athletes. I just think there is no substitute for competing and being a part of a team. I think almost all of our kids are at least two sport athletes”.
Growing as competitors and players is what athletics is all about.
Coach Helling stated that one of his favorite parts of the sport is watching his athletes improve.
“I like to see kids get excited about improving and setting PRs,” Helling said. “We’re not quite as deep as we were last year as far as competing for the conference, but I would like to hope that we could be one of the top three or four teams in the conference.”
Both the boy’s and girls’ track teams will compete at home today (May 3rd).
