The Green Bay Area Public School District has been named the recipient of a major mental health grant through the WEA Member Benefits Foundation.
The statewide organization chose Green Bay Schools to receive $20,000 to go toward mental health initiatives and programs.
This grant comes during Mental Health Awareness Month, and as the Foundation launches a local funder outreach effort in hopes that the grant will spark participation from other corporate funders and philanthropic organizations in the community.
Other schools to receive mental health funding from WEA Member Benefits include Appleton, Madison, Racine, Stevens Point, Sun Prairie, Watertown, and Wausau.
The initiative has helped those districts raise nearly $1 million and reach 5,000 additional students with mental health services and support.
