The city of Manitowoc invites the public to watch the release of approximately 11,500 Coho salmon into the Manitowoc River at Manitou Park on Michigan Avenue.
Director of Public Infrastructure Dan Koski says it’ll take place at approximately noon on Tuesday May 21st.
Members of The Northeastern Wisconsin Great Lakes Sport Fisherman and The Wisconsin DNR will collect the salmon that are being raised in the rearing pond in the rearing pond at Lincoln Park Zoo.
Tankers will arrive about 10 a.m., and once the fish are netted, counted, and loaded, they’ll head to Manitou Park for the release.
Over six million trout and salmon have been reared at the pond and released dating back to 1985.
