Youth Apprenticeship is a fast-growing program at Lincoln High School, reaching top numbers this year of 141 youth apprentices and 70 business partners.
The program began in 1995 with just 15 students and has almost doubled its number of students from last year to this year alone.
The Youth Apprenticeship program gives any interested students an opportunity to further explore their career area of interest in a hands-on way.
The students spend part or all of their school day outside of the classroom doing real-life learning while being treated like a normal paid employee.
This past year alone, the youth apprenticeship students at Lincoln worked a total of 139,867 hours and earned a combined $2,002,577.
With these high numbers, the Lincoln Youth Apprenticeship program is one of the largest YA programs in the state of Wisconsin.
Lincoln High School was one of the first high schools to offer this program to their students and has offered it every year since they started.
