Jordan Love and The Green Bay Packers are still working out the details of his new contract.
Both parties are on record stating that they would like to get a deal done before training camp.
These talks are coming off the back of Love’s third year as a pro and first year as the starting quarterback for the Pack.
It also follows Packers GM Brian Gutenkunst saying he’d like to avoid some of the discomfort involved in contract negotiations with Green Bay’s last quarterback, Aaron Rodgers.
Evan Smith, former Green Bay Packer and co-host of Seehafer News’ On the Line Podcast, shared his words on contract negotiations in the NFL,
“It’s just like poker, everyone is trying to sit there bluffing and bluffing trying to get the most money they can until, at the end of the day, time lines up here’s our number.”
These are the exact games Love, and the Packers, would like to avoid.
Both Smith and On the Line Co-host Ryan Brahm agreed in thinking a deal would get done before camp.
Love’s first season ultimately turned out to be a massive success.
He and the Packers struggled early, starting with a 2-4 record. However, he really turned it on down the stretch and led the Packers to a playoff berth.
Love posted an impressive 4000+ passing yards and 32 passing Touchdowns which were second most in the NFL.
With numbers like that, it’s no surprise why the Packers would like to lock up Love and his arm for the foreseeable future.
