Two businesses in Two Rivers are getting help from the city through their Façade Grant program.
The city council approved two permits with one $10,000 grant going to the Hansen Building owners on Washington Street to remove old siding and install new siding and Insulation.
City Manager Greg Buckley says the grants must be matched dollar for dollar, meaning the city isn’t paying for everything.
The city will pay $5,000 from a city TID and the other $5,000 from Two Rivers Main Streets.
The second façade grant will go towards The Hook and Lane Games building and will be getting $20,000 from the grant program.
The grant is usually only for $10,000, but the council approved the project as an exception.
The money would be used to complete the rest of the exterior façade work, including installing smart siding, painting, and framing.
A specialty garage door would also be installed and some new windows.
Two Rivers started the program about 5 years ago with Two Rivers Main Streets and still has money available for this year.
Buckley also explained that projects don’t just have to be downtown but can be outside of the area if the city council accepts the project.
