The Green Bay Packers have officially cut down their kicker competition to two.
Jack Podlesny, the former Georgia Bulldog, has been released from the team.
This leaves incumbent kicker Anders Carlson and former Minnesota Vikings Kicker Greg Joesph as the ones fighting for the job.
Podlesny was signed on January 24 of this year following a shaky year from Carlson, which ended with a big miss down the stretch against the 49ers in the playoffs.
Green Bay hopes to gain more stability in the kicking game with either Joseph or Carlson after this position competition, which will play out in training camp.
Carlson’s brother Daniel had endured a similar situation with the Vikings before being waived.
Since he joined the Las Vegas Raiders, he’s become one of the top kickers in the NFL.
Anders hopes to follow in his big brother’s footsteps and bounce back with the Pack.
