The Marquette community bid a somber farewell to former university president Michael Lovell.
Mourners filled the church on Marquette’s campus yesterday for his public memorial and funeral mass.
Lovell passed away last week following a prolonged battle with cancer.
He was remembered for his kindness, generosity, and tireless dedication to both Marquette and the Milwaukee community.
Lovell made history as Marquette’s first president not from a religious order, beginning his tenure in 2014.
He was 57 years old.
