The fate of the historic John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jefferson is uncertain after it was struck by lightning last night (June 25th).
The lightning hit the church’s steeple, igniting a fire.
Firefighters from several departments battled the blaze.
No injuries have been reported, but images from the scene show flames and smoke emerging from the church’s top.
