Formal charges have been filed against a 16-year-old inmate accused of killing a teacher at Lincoln Hills.
Javarius Hurd now faces second-degree reckless homicide charges after allegedly beating a female staff member and subsequently attacking and killing 49-year-old teacher Corey Proulx.
Hurd is being charged as an adult. Lawmakers and Governor Evers have expressed their shock and sorrow over Proulx’s death.
A lawmaker announced plans to hold hearings and seek answers from the state’s Department of Corrections regarding the incident.
