The Mayor of Green Bay has stated there are unpaid invoices with the city from presidential campaigns.
In a press release on the City’s website, Mayor Eric Genrich explains that the City of Green Bay has sustained quite substantial costs in ensuring the safety of campaign members, attendees, and Green Bay residents.
Mayor Genrich also believes that this financial burden is not for the people of Green Bay to pay. For transparency, the mayor’s office has made these invoices public.
The Biden Campaign has one invoice of just under $7,000 for a visit by First Lady Jill Biden.
The Trump Campaign has two outstanding invoices.
One is from his 2016 campaign for more than $9,300.
The other is from earlier this year, which totals $33,389.
Since Mayor Genrich called out the presidential candidates, he has confirmed that the Biden Campaign has begun payment of their invoice, but the Trump Campaign has not.
In the release, Mayor Genrich stated, “We are honored to host visits from presidential candidates and appreciate the significance these events hold for our community. At the same time, there are very real costs associated with the public safety resources these events require, and it is crucial that the financial responsibilities associated with these services are borne by the campaigns, not our taxpayers.”
The official invoices can be found and viewed online.
