They announced to the public Wednesday (July 10th) that there are currently 15 cases of Whooping Cough in the county.

This ailment can affect people of all ages, however, pregnant women, immunocompromised individuals, and babies less than one year old are at a heightened risk.
Early symptoms appear very similar to a common cold, but later symptoms can include uncontrollable, violent coughing that makes it difficult to breathe.
With early-stage symptoms being very similar to that of the common cold, testing is the only way to know if you have Whooping Cough.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention state the best prevention for a Pertussis infection is vaccination.
