The Manitowoc County Historical Society will be holding four upcoming youth summer camps.
The first of the four summer camps was held Thursday (July 11) and the final camp will end on August 8, all taking place at the Pinecrest Historical Village.
Life as a Pioneer, the second camp, will allow campers to discover what daily life was like for kids at the start of the 20th century.
The next camp is called In the Kitchen, which will have kids cooking up classic recipes from the era, including jams and more.
Hannah Harvey, the Historical Society’s Living History Program Coordinator, joined the Seehafer News Hello Lakeshore Podcast where she said the final camp is a new addition to their programming.
“It is our Civil War camp,” she explained. “We explore the Civil War locally and on a bigger playing field.” She added on by saying, “We are going to teach them how to present arms, drill, and all the important stuff you need to know when preparing for war.”
Advanced registration is required for each participant. Registration and information on the camps can be found on the Historical Society’s website at manitowoccountyhistory.org under the events tab.
