The Two Rivers Fire Department is upping safety measures at Neshotah Beach.
To go along with the recently installed SwimSmart Alert System, Two Rivers Firefighters Local 423 has donated five Life Rings and housing cabinets.
The Life Rings are 24 inches and attached to 100 feet of floating rope.
They have been strategically placed near the beach’s boardwalk and are visible from essentially anywhere on the beach.
Inside each housing cabinet are instructions on how to use the ring in a time of need.
The city of Two Rivers Fire Department also warns beachgoers that there are no lifeguards on duty at Neshotah Beach.
This means it is the responsibility of patrons to understand the risks that exist when swimming in Lake Michigan.
While the hope is that these Life Rings never have to be used, they could be the difference between life and death for any beachgoer.
