A former police officer from northwestern Wisconsin has been sentenced to prison for a fatal drunk driving crash in Eau Claire.
Yesterday, a judge sentenced Gregory Swanson to five years in prison and an additional five years of parole for the deadly accident that occurred in July 2022.
Investigators revealed that Swanson crashed into the back of an Eau Claire man’s car, which had broken down on the side of the road in Superior.
The man died immediately, and his infant son passed away a few days later.
Swanson pleaded guilty to the charges in April.
