The man who delivered fentanyl-laced Percocet to a teenager, resulting in their death, has been sentenced.
A report from Gregory J. Haanstad, the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, shows that 36-year-old Roosevelt T. Taylor was ordered to spend 20 years in prison following a guilty plea on a charge of Distributing Fentanyl Resulting in Death.
Taylor had been distributing counterfeit Percocet in the Green Bay area for weeks, according to the report, making him responsible for “putting hundreds of fake Percocet® pills into circulation, not knowing who would ultimately ingest the potentially lethal dose of fentanyl found in about 70% of such pills.”
A 17-year-old female ended up buying some pills, and ended up overdosing, resulting in her death.
At the sentencing hearing, Judge Griesbach emphasized that trafficking fentanyl is distributing “poison,” pointing to the fact that fentanyl is the leading cause of death for 18- to 45-year-olds.
