A local celebration of all things beer is returning to the Manitowoc riverfront.
Malt City Brewfest is set to take place on Saturday, July 27th, from 2:00 to 5:30 p.m. and is hosted by Briess Malting in the Farmers Market parking lot.
Paul Hoffman of PetSkull Brewing noted on WOMT’s Taproom show last week, that everyone is invited to Brewfest, even those who don’t necessarily like beer.
“People should know that there are more than just beer options at the Brewfest,” he explained. “One of the options and one of the things we make that people know about is Jake’s Malt Lemonade. It is really not a beer. It doesn’t contain hops, but we do use Briess malting grain.”
Hoffman had high praise for Briess in how they have organized the event in years past.
“This is my favorite one to do not only because it’s in Manitowoc, but what a beautiful location, right? It’s right on the river there,” Hoffman said. “The folks at Briess do a phenomenal job at taking care of us, it’s so well organized, I think the guests have a blast.”
Ron Schroder, the Director of Marketing for Briess, revealed that this year, there will be over 30 brewers from across Wisconsin signed up to attend the event, and noted, “Every brewery brings four beers. The quick math on that is there will be at least 120 different beers to try.”
All of the beers being served at this event will include malt from Manitowoc’s malt plant.
A portion of proceeds will be donated to Lakeshore Humane Society, who will bring some of their dogs to the events, as well as Pink Heals for Cancer who will bring their pink firetruck.
VIP ticket holders will get entry at 1:00 p.m.
Hardcopy tickets are being sold at all three craft breweries in Manitowoc, Superior Liquor, and the Tourism Office downtown.
Tickets are $50, for more information and digital tickets, go to maltcitybrewfest.com.
