A new healthcare group has opened on the lakeshore.
Renovo Health held a ribbon cutting with the Chamber Manitowoc County earlier this week.
Renovo Health describes itself as an affordable direct-pay surgery center with the mission to provide excellent healthcare at fair prices.
Co-founder Steve Borene says he and his work partner Josh Johnson opened Renovo Health because they wanted a change after working in both private practice and at other healthcare groups.
“This an area where we can reach out to patients to issues that have issues with paying for it, people who are looking for more freedom and autonomy in what their choices are, and for more transparency,” Borene explained.
Borene continues saying that opening the first ever medical campus in the Manitowoc-Two Rivers area provides many advantages.
“We wanted to be outside the immediate Green Bay area, and we wanted to be outside the immediate Milwaukee area,” he stated.
“Manitowoc became the natural center of where we were looking. Additionally, this building became available for us.”
Seehafer News also spoke with Matt Ohrt with Self Fund Health, a company that helps people with a self-funded insurance plan for companies.
He explained that there’s a movement of independent groups offering healthcare services like colonoscopies and surgeries at a fairer price without being part of a major healthcare company.
“These are doctors that are frustrated that healthcare has gone, and they’re opening up their own practices, just like in the older days,” he explained.
“It’s kind of had this shift of lots of independents and then being bought out by the bigs and now we’re seeing the trend go the other way.”
Renovo Health is located off Memorial Drive and is now accepting appointments.
