Day two of Green Bay Packers training camp was marred by a torrential downpour, but the fans didn’t care.
The stands were packed at the start of practice, and only a quarter of them left when the skies opened up.
That fact was not lost on new Packer running back Josh Jacobs, who told Seehafer News in a one-on-one interview that he is amazed by the fans’ support.
“I don’t think I’ve ever had that many fans like this,” Jacobs said. “You’ll see some with the fans like in the stands before, but like the whole gates and all every side, I’m like, wow, this is crazy.”
And the fact that they stuck it out was a bit of a double-edged sword.
While the support is amazing, Jacobs told us “Coach was actually was like, ‘Man, if the fans leave, we’ll go inside.’ The fan stayed, and we stayed outside.”
The Packers’ first overall draft pick, Jordan Morgan, was also impressed by the dedication to the team, saying in a one-on-one interview, “Somewhere else, I know they would have already left, especially in Arizona, but I mean, it was really cool seeing them out there supporting still.”
Morgan also spoke about how he has come to love Green Bay.
“It feels nice around here,” he said. “I mean, Green Bay is not that big. I realize that I’ve explored a little bit, and I’ve seen that it’s really everybody’s really close because of that small-town feel, and I really like that.”
The big headline of the day was Jordan Love once again not practicing as he awaits his new contract.
While we were unable to speak with Love, he was seen smiling on the field and actively participating in the practice.
We will be back at training camp on Friday with additional Packers coverage.
