The Manitowoc American Legion 16U baseball team ran into a buzz saw last night, and fell in the regional championship to Neenah 12-0.
Neenah came out swinging right out of the gate, scoring 3 runs in the 1st inning, 5 in the 2nd, and their last 4 in the 3rd.
Kelvin Gilbertson was on the mound for all 12 runs in his two and two thirds innings of work, which were accompanied by 6 errors by the Post 88 defense.
Jake Hilmer came on in relief to stop the bleeding, and shut out Neenah in the final half of the game.
He allowed 2 hits and struck out 3 batters.
The only hit for Manitowoc came off the bat of Drew Holper, as Post 88 ends their season just short of a state tournament appearance and an 18-7 record.
