Two towns in Manitowoc County are getting state money for road projects.
An announcement from Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers’ office says 37 projects across 28 counties will get a share of $50 million for rural road projects that support Wisconsin’s farmers, producers, and agricultural industries that are critical to moving and transporting products, crops, and livestock.
In Manitowoc County, the Town of Liberty will get a little more than $593,000 to help with upgrades on Pine River and Range Line Road, while the Town of Newton is getting about $1.4 million for improvements on Center Road.
The funding will help fund some of the costs for each project, but both projects are estimated to cost a little more.
Other communities around eastern Wisconsin will get some state money as well, including the Village of Hilbert in Calumet County, the towns of Morrison and Rockland in Brown County, the Town of Red River in Kewaunee County, and the town of Union in Door County.
Governor Evers signed Wisconsin Act 13 in 2023 to expand the Local Road Improvements Program to include agricultural road improvement projects through the Agricultural Roads Improvement Program.
