The Green Bay Packers held their final practice before Family Night, and the defense continues to be a strong point.
Xavier McKinney, in his first season in green and gold has been a great veteran presence at Safety, giving the Packers a feared secondary alongside Eric Stokes, and Jaire Alexander.
McKinney tells Seehafer News that since his arrival, he has been building relationships with the guys, and he is very excited to see how they do.
“We got a competitive defense. A lot of the guys that you know, that want to win, no matter what the situation is,” he said. “It’s fun to be around…a group of guys that have that same mindset as you and that are kind of, you know, going towards the same goals.”
Stokes has been impressed by McKinney’s leadership and how much he has helped the secondary develop.
Stokes specifically noted “his experience, his knowledge of the game…and his range.”
On the offensive side of the ball, Josh Jacobs was not suited as he nurses a groin injury, which allowed rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd to get some snaps with Jordan Love and the first team offense.
Lloyd is coming off of a hip injury, with Wednesday being his first practice, so he tells Seehafer News that he is very happy to be back on the field.
“(I feel) pretty good getting back into it. Super excited to honestly just showcase what I can do,” he explained. “Just getting back into things, getting back in my the shape that I need and has been out there with once is always special.”
The Packers are taking Friday off before they take to Lambeau Field to hold their annual Family Night practice under the lights.
