An inmate at the Waupun Correctional Institute has died, their fifth death since June of 2023.
On Monday (August 5th) the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Waupun Correctional Institute regarding a death that had occurred.
The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
They have stated that their initial investigation indicates that it was likely a self-inflicted incident.
Those initial investigations also revealed that staff responded quickly and appropriately by attempting life-saving measures on the inmate.
This comes in the wake of four other recent deaths at the prison.
Two of the deaths resulted in felony charges for the former warden, Randall Hepp, and eight members of the staff regarding the circumstances of the deaths.
